Exercise PLEEEEEASE

Back to # this am. Had the prime rib last night with fresh mashed pots. Yum, Yum.

Having chickken bird tonight. Need to go shopping for more raw vegies. Mom has been on generic prozac for about a month and I see a big diffeence in her attitude toward me. Still not loving but at least not so negative and hateful.
No more news here.

5 MONTHS OF FOOD !!!

Well ### today. The only thing I did not do yesterday was eat frequently or have a bm.

Bkfst: oatmeal
Lunch: 1/2 pbj
Dinner: steak pinwheel minus spinach, mashed pot and my salad.

I did have a lot of mashed pot but they were with ff milk and without butter.
I did work out in yard and around the house more. That's why I didn't eat frequently throughout the day. Gheeez. I lose focus for one day and gain.
Now that my cravings have stopped (even for he fat I think) I'm fighting to maintain my focus.
You're not going to give up on me are you?

My daily schedule with the kids here before my operation will be about the same but getting up earlier. They will go to the beach and on hikes and I'll go with them but just not do the walking. I'll stay in the car and read, drink my water and eat vegies. They will fix dinners and I'll eat your dinners.

However, after the oper;ation, I understand I'll be out of it on pain pills for the first 2 days. I'll probably eat soups (ff of course). Then I'll go back to the regular schedule.

Plan to send the next and last box to arrive about the 18th of April. After that box is done, I'd like to keep e-mailing you each day. That helps me a lot.

I've got 5 months of food in my freezer...I was just assuming you'd always lose at least 1 lb a week, so I planned on continuing as long as you kept losing.
My figures say you've got about 15 days of food left.

As to the food that's left, that's probably about right. But some of the packages last for 2 meals. And I'm going to make Mom's vegie soup so I think the 18th of April to arrive is about right.

NO MORE STRESS !!!

I started my trip to freedom about the time the docs thought I had escemia. R had heard me complain for years about mama, so I vented to him. By the way, it does help to be able to unload to someone who won't think you are a terrible person for hating your mom)
So...unload away to me whenever you feel like it.
Basically I started saying outloud or to my self, things like
I DON'T CARE
SHE DOESN'T MATTER, I MATTER
WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY (and then list things)
MY HAPPINESS MATTERS
SHE NO LONGER HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE ME FEEL GUILTY
I WILL NEVER PLEASE HER ANYWAY
LET HER PICK K OVER B & I, SHE WAS RAISED THAT WAY
DOES GOING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS MAKE ME HAPPY
WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY
SHE HAS NO CLUE WHO I AM
SHE USED TO RULE BY GUILT TRIPS...NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

I even had a little dittie I used to sing to the tune of Everything's Coming Up Roses by that really loud obnoxious blond female singer that also sang See the USA, In a Cheverlot (I think it was Dick Van Dike's mother)I haven't had to sing it for a long while, but I think it went something like....

It's odd but that one little song would just lift my spirits SOOOO HIGH !!!!
You can even hum it to yourself and she'll just think your happy :~)
Anyway, that was the start.
I told mom that the phone worked both ways and stopped calling. Out of sight (sound) out of mind. It helped, but only after I stopped feeling guilty for not calling.
After that, I made consious decisions to remove all stress from my life.
I vented more to R about things that bothered me...not just mom stuff.
Of course I told him first what I was going to do and that I just needed to vent.

(ByTheWay...don't even think of venting to a normal friend about mom...you will compound your stress by feeling guilty about how you feel and what she thinks of you because of how you feel about mom)

If I didn't want to do something someone else wanted me to do I made a consious choice to try not to do it (this was hard, cause I used to be a push over.) But at least I'm better now and only do the things that would actually make a big diff to the person who asks.

I kept a list of things I enjoyed doing and did them.
I go to New York once a year to enjoy the plays and restaurants. For some reason, New York and Palma Majorca are 2 cities that I feel at home in. I must have lived there in a past life.

R & I would play a mind game. The basis was that one of us was all powerful and could make absolutely ANY wish come true and then give reasons why a wish would be good to grant and why a wish might cause more problems than it's worth...world peace, no more rape, muder, children born with horrible defects were obvious good choices. But no more disease would really cause problems down the line with people living too long. We would go on for a least an hour and even though we really hadn't accomplished anything, it somehow made us feel good, don't ask me why.

I stopped arguing with ANYONE!!! If I had an opinion, I would state it up to 3 times in different ways. Then it was up to the other person to take my advice or leave it...tough shit? (You're lucky I didn't do that with you and your weight loss, huh?)

I started donating to charities...$ mostly, but time and knowledge when I could. That reallllllllly made me feel good.

And I've given almost everything in my house away that I haven't used or worn in a year, including knick-nacs. I've come to dislike having things around me that aren't useful or beautiful to look at. (My cat is both :~)

I took the time to read more and look up things on the internet...the knowledge there is amazing.

Then I went thru a tough time when I had to get off prem-pro and the hot flashes and angry attitude almost got the better of me, but for the anger I sang my little dittie and for the hot flashes I took every soy pill or natural hormone replacement I could find and drank soy milk by the gallon (and gained 20 lbs). The hot flashes are still there, but they don't make me rip my clothes off anymore. (I would literally go into my room and undress under the ceiling fan)

I tell myself and R often how good we have it. We're not rich, but we don't want for anything (which makes it hard at Christmas to think of things the other needs and hasn't already gone out and gotten).

Maybe you could ask yourself when frustraited with mom... IF SHE WEREN'T HERE, WHAT WOULD I BE DOING RIGHT NOW? and then go do it.

I'll send more freedom notes as I remember them. I don't need to consciously think about it anymore. This Christmas was nice, but I very rarely even remembered she was there. I tried to watch the Dean Martin tapes with her, but she turned into a bitch. I tried to give her a compliment at dinner about all the great food she had cooked for us in the past...she just smirked and didn't bother to look at me. Most of the time I just don't think of her at all (a difficult task for you I know). When I think of things to cook for you, it's like you're out there alone. I know she's there with you, but it's like she's a neighbor I knew once.

### this am. No bm yesterday. I had the following to eat:

bkfst 1 piece toast & orange
snack banana
lunch whole pbj sandwich
dinner your steak pinwheels, ff mashed pot and asparagus w butter buds drizzled over
snack yogurt & little coolwhip

I worked in the yard and didn't eat as often as I usually do. Am I going to have to get a watch with an alarm? The PBJ was too much - - should have been just a 1/2.
This is very disappointing. I did drink 7 waters.

Oh, I've forgotten to tell hyou.
Last night was the rest of the curry sauce on rice. Good. I added shrimp.
Night before was the beef pinwheels. I ate one but left the spinach. You know I don't like cooked green leafy stuff. beef was good. Very tender. I didn't do the tomatoes I added beef bullion and an envelope of onion soup. Very good. I'm going to freeze the leftover broth for soup or gravy or something.
Tonight I'll have the meatloaf.

MOM GRRRRRRRRR

Thanks Sam. I went on line to ask.com and got an answer - very chemical oriented.
I went on the chat site you sent me earlier but I really don't want to talk to others. Most people love their mothers and I don't a lot of the time. God knows why I'm keeping her here.
My problem is that I tend to take the things she says and does as if she means them and she is really demented and is past doing things to irritate me on purpose.
She brings out the worst in me. If she could force herself to be a kind, gentle, loving person, then I could take the maddening things she does, but for some reason she can't be that kind of person to her family (only to her cat) and I hate her for that. How dysfunctional are we ?

your calories and fat are at a good level. Are you drinking plenty of water.
Contrary to popular belief, just because you drink more water doesn't mean your body will retain more.
Your body will retain what it will for it's own reasons...say for some reason it is going to retain 2 lb of water it thinks it will need...whether you drink 4 glasses or 24 glasses it is not going to retain more than the 2 lb it thinks it needs. In fact, if it hasn't had enought water, it will retain more than it needs 'just in case' (it works the same as metabolism)

Yes, I didn't know all this as fact but I suspected it. I drink 5 glasses of water a day, usually about 2 cups coffee/tea, 2 glasses iced tea and 1-2 glasses of milk. Most days. This is especially easy as most of the day I'm sitting on the sofa reading or on the computer and I keep a jug of water by my side. I've found the more I drink, the more I want.

Try to drink 8 glasses a day at least, especiall while trying to lose weight. As your body burns stored fat, it needs to flush out the residual of that burning (not the right tech term...but then I'm having a senior moment on the correct word :~) ) and the more you drink the better able your body will be to burn more fat.Please Try for 8 a day. I think you will be really surprised. And your body is not going to retain more, just because you drink more.I have a plastic cup that holds 16 oz and I make my self drink 4 of them a day...either tea or water

### today. That's disappointing. It's probably water and bm. Didn't have one yesterday and I ran away from home all day yesterday to be by myself. Had a great little trip but sitting and driving the car all day makes me collect water. I took my vegies, water & 1/2 sandwich with me and finished them by 3:00. At about 5:00 I passed a Subway so I went in and got one of those 6 g of fat sandwiches. It was good but may have had too many calories.

We'll see tomorrow. I'll take my prunes this am and will be working around the house. Maybe I'll take a water pill.

A Veggie Venture Quick Radish & White Bean Salad ♥ Posted: 18 Mar 2009 01:17 PM PDTHow to fall in love with radishes: Toss together a quick medley of chopped radishes and tomatoes brightened with olives, capers, parsley and lemon juice. Add canned beans for protein. Skip the oil.


Try making liquadas (fruit milkshakes--I call them Liquid AHHS) in the morning instead of going to restaurant
Banana, Frozen Strawberries, Skim milk (or oj depending on the fruit), splenda, vanilla extract.
Then blenderize all.

I know you will find this hard to believe but I actually like my oatmeal and my yogurt. and I'll try your milkshakes when I start working out in the yard. Then I won't want to take the time to go out to bkfst. For now, it's a routine I like and so does Mom. I feel better if I can have a fattening meal about once a week. My next fattening meal is going to be pizza ! ! ! I've been dreaming of all that cheese - - real stuff.

I'll try to remember to let you know before I plan to eat it so you can remind me about the 4 bites. I think when I hit ### will be a good time.

Isn't it funny that I don't crave sweets anymore? I'm even afraid to try one of the desserts from your cookbooks. I'm afraid it will switch the lever back to the cravings and it's so good not to crave them. - - the sweet stuff anyway.

The longer you go without sweets, the less you will crave them.
That is also true for fatty foods, but it takes a loooooootttttttt longer for that to kick in.

Here's some tips for that pizza when you finally have it:
Eat an apple just before you eat the pizza
Buy a slice...not a whole one
Put everything on it you want EXCEPT sausage....peperoni is even better that sausage(canadian bacon is even better)...onions, bell peps, shrooms, fresh toms, fresh basil are all good.
Take 4 or 5 paper towels with you a blot all that grease from the top...that is not the good part anyway.
Eat it early in the day and walk a long way to and from the pizza joint
Drink a BIG ice tea during the 4 bites (I myself can't stop at 4 bites unless I really fill up on tea) save the rest for breakfast the next day or the day after...it will taste even better then.
Eat 6 prunes so it doesn't stay in your system long.

Even better...
slice French bread (it is almost always low fat or fat free), spread with my chunky spaghetti sauce, sprinkle VERRRY little parmesan, broil.
I have been craving Pizza since you started this diet, but have not had it yet. But I have my frozen lasagna to fall back on. We don't think it's too mushy...it is mushier than I normally make it because I used so many mushrooms...but at least it gets me past the pizza cravings.Maybe I'll make a different one for your next box, with less shrooms and more peppers

I thawed the curry sauce but didn't have it. Instead I had 1/2 ckn breast (no skin/fat), carrots and tomatoes.

Heat it in a sauce pan, taste it. If it needs thining use broth or skim milk...but keep in mind that it is going on very bland rice. I can't remember if I put raisins in that batch or not.

Anything w/pasta, brunswick stew, chicken gumbo, thanksgving dinners, teriyaki stir fry ckn, shrimp creole. Prime rib too but that's so expensive. Forget it.

I haven't had them yet but I'm sure I'll like the meatloaf and steak burgers and the curry sauce.

I don't need new things each time. In fact I'd prefer not. Just send my favorite things. However, this is such a treat and so wonderful that I'll eat anything you make. The current box will do me thru march and into April. I have 17 meals left on your list and sometimes I get 2 meals from your package because mom is so picky. I probably have about 20 meals left.

I'm going to make a big pot of Mom's vegie soup for when I'm down with my knee after the op. The girls can cook what they like and I'll have the vegie soup.

I think the next box should come about the 20th of April. I should be able to walk around easily then and the vegie soup will be gone.

I like to cook us new things, so when I'm looking for something new to cook, I keep in mind how I'd freeze it to send.

Casserole is 1 1/2 cups with a little jiggle room left at the top. Did you get the e-mail when I told you that?

I use all canned/frozen vegies in Mom's soup with soup bone & beef stew meat. I cook the bone and meat the day before, cool it so I can skim off the fat and add the rest the next day.
Very easy, almost fat free.

1 & 1/2 cups is perfect for you and mom...1 cup for you 1/2 c for mom or your lunch the next day
I usually use round steak, completely trimmed of fat (as I cut it into cubes) and cook 8 hr in a slow cooker...it is cheaper and round steak has a more beefy flavor. Then skim the fat.

Do you know the trick of straining the cooled broth into a plastic zip lock bag
(trust me...don't strain it while too hot...very messy bag leaks happen...as in melt down)
then put it in a bowl in the fridge or freezer (one pointy end down, opposite pointy end up so the fat can collect there) 'til cold.
Then hold over the bowl and slit bottom pointy end with knife (DO NOT CUT WITH SCISSORS>>>you'll loose the tip in the broth). When the fat gets close to the slit, squeeze off and fold up for trash.
Sounds much more complicated than it is.

What affects metabolism

Yes. I have cut my calories way back. Do you think too much? Am I getting enough protein each day? Maybe not. I'm eating the things I really like that are still healthy to make it easier for me. I know I'm not getting enough vegies and I'll try harder but really I'm eating healthier than I have in years.

I agree that exercise should be fun - - that's why I've not been able to make myself do chair exercises. Once my leg is fixed, I'll be in the yard every day, walking in the woods, and doing yoga which I love. I've arranged my bedroom with only a single size bed so I have room to do my yoga in a private space.

No, I think you are at the right calorie level. Just as long as you eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hr at least a 1/2 cup of something healthy and the earlier you start the better.
I use reduced fat peanut butter (the fat free is HORRIBLE). I love pb on celery with raisins dotted down the rib. I also like it on carrots. Have you switched to whole grain bread? When I use jelly I use Smuckers sugar free. It's pretty good
FF Yogurt is good protein. Believe it or not I like FF cottage cheese sometimes as a change up. I don't like it on a steady basis, but I'll buy a big container, take out a cup for eating and puree the rest w a little lemon juice to make FF Sour Cream for baked potatoes that have been drizzled w Butter Buds and ch green onions.
Did you know that raw potatoes are better for you that cooked ones?
I also may have forgotten to tell you...if you eat a raw veggie after every meal, it does wonders for your metabolism. It has something to do with the enzymes. Even a half rib of celery will do it.

What affects metabolism?
What do you think has the biggest impact on your metabolism? Activity levels? Your Thyroid? Age?WRONG! WRONG! and WRONG!
Activity levels, Thyroid function, and age do affect metabolism but not nearly as much as...any idea? It’s muscle tissue! The more muscle you have the more calories you burn regardless of how active you are, how old you are, etc. It’s live tissue and it’s there working for you and burning calories 24 hours a day – each and every day!
Here’s a list of some of the factors affecting metabolism in order of greatest impact to least:
muscle tissue (you already know why this is on the top of the list)
meal frequency (the longer you go between meals the more your metabolism slows down to conserve energy)
activity level (important but doesn’t make any difference if you don’t match your eating to your expenditure)
food choices
hydration (over 70% of bodily functions take place in water – not enough water causes all your systems to slow down and unnecessary stress)
genetics (some people have higher metabolisms than others – you can’t change genetics but you can still win the battle!)
hormone production and function (think you have a slow thyroid? it’s not likely – before you go blame it on the thyroid first stabilize your blood sugar and throw in some progressive exercise 2-3 times each week)
stress (stress also can slow metabolism by placing extra stress and strain on numerous systems. plus, many people tend to overeat when “stressed out”)

### this am. Yes I know I'm paying for the breakfast yesterday but some is also water. I forgot to tell you I had the terakyi ckn Wednesday nite. And I had to get up 4 times during the night to go to batahroom. Couldn't figure it out until I remembered you said asparagus is a diuretic. So I lost a lot of water Wed nite to get down to the wonderful weight of ### Thurs am.

Last night I only got up 1 time to go. That combined with my breakfast yesterday AND no bm yesterday accounts for my gain of .6 lb.

It appears that my normal schedule is a bm every 2 days even if I take the prunes.

I know I've disappointed you with my breakfast yesterday. I forgot to only eat 4 bites also. I ate the whole thing. As bfeakfasts go, it wasn't that huge but too fatty for me on this eating plan.

The egg was bad enough, but the sausage is the real killer. Restaurants buy the cheapest sausage possible and that means the fattiest.

If you read that long cancer report I sent you, you must understand how important it is to your health to have a clean and empty colon (also good for your weight). The longer food stays in your intestines the more your body grabs and turns to fat. The stuff that builds up over the years in the many crevices is very toxic to your body. Daily bms are normal...every 2 days is not. Could you please try to keep up the prunes until your body changes to 1 a day? It may take a few months.
Can you try to explain to me why it is important for you to go out to breakfast every day????????? And what did you mean, 'you didn't have time to eat your oatmeal before you left' ? Who was rushing you?

Mom and I have a schedule and it's to get to the restaurant before 11:00 when they quit serving bkfst. That is her biggest meal of the day. She enjoys it and I do the newspaper crossword puzzle with the waitresses and the restaurant owner each day. It's become a habit. Normally I eat at home then have coffee and an orange there.

Thursday nite I had a can of Healthy Request vegie soup. No fat and about 280 cal.

Tonight I'm going to have a tksgving dinner.

Why weight stops coming off

This was in interesting article someone sent me. I don't know who wrote it, but you should read it.

Why weight stops coming off:
Too little exercise or less effective routines. We all know we need to exercise in order to stay trim but many people still don’t do enough activity to burn off the energy from food or overcome a slow metabolism. You should strive to be active for the most part of your waking hours, or exercising for 20-30 minutes at least 3 times a week.

If you’re very overweight and struggle to exercise then you need to be doing more low level recreational activities. Many people get fed up with going to the gym and doing the same old routine. When a routine becomes boring you should change it as constantly repeating the same routine can ruin its fat loss potential. Our body adapts very well to exercise and repeating something your body can complete easily won’t cause any physical changes. Yes, you will still burn calories but if your body has adapted to your present, daily calorie intake then you’ll not lose any more weight. A great way to boost results is to re-challenge the body by trying different kinds of activities; swimming, ice skating, dancing salsa or even rock climbing. If an activity becomes fun you’ll do it for longer and end up burning much more energy to lose weight.

A reduced metabolism Low calorie diets tend to work well during the first few weeks then they become ineffective for losing further weight. The reason is they cause the metabolism to slow down, thus your body adapts to the limited calorie intake. If you respond by lowering your calorie intake further you’ll probably end up losing even more muscle and hitting a weight loss plateau again. This cycle may continue until your resolve finally breaks and you go back to your previous eating habits. The secret is to lower intake while providing good nutrition with plenty of protein to limit muscle loss. Doing some weight training will help boost the metabolism and speed fat loss. Remember Tom Venuto’s motto “Burn the Fat, but Feed the Muscle!”

Skipping meals It sounds simple, if we eat less we should lose weight. But the body responds by going into starvation mode, the muscles break down in order to maintain the amino acid pool, the result is a lowered metabolism. Also if you let your blood sugar drop too low you’ll end up with strong hunger pains and probably end up eating far too much at the next meal. Try to eat healthy, small meals or snacks 5 – 6 times a day, starting with a good breakfast that contains good quality protein. Learn to stabilize blood sugar levels through the G.I. way of eating.

Eating too much sugar and salt Excess sugar and salt are often combined together in many processed foods. Eating too much sugar in one meal causes increased blood sugar levels; the body must respond and lower it back to normal. The result is most of the excess sugar is eventually stored as body fat. This is where some people get confused because they eat sugary foods or drink lots of soda which contain little fat content, and don’t realize how it can cause fat storage. Try to reduce sugar intake.

Wow. This is a wonderful summary. Very telling. I'm going out to breakfast with Kathleen (a friend here) this am and I was going to eat 1 egg and 1 toast but after I weighed with no loss I ate my regular oatmeal. Feel good about that decision.
After reading this I feel REAL good about that decision.

Thanks for keeping the summary of my good and bad weeks. That's a real eye opener. I was a little hungry most of the day Saturday but I had more snacks and water throughout the day.

Yea, it's easy to forget the reasons for gain or loss unless you write everything down and then sumerize them along with the weight data.

I'm awake. The guy didn't come until 9:00 am ! GRRRRRR. I had yogurt & piece of toast for bkfst then 2 BMs. Didn't go back to bed. Didn't get undressed to weigh either. I'll do it tomorrow. It's killing me that I can't go outside to work in yard like I want to. I pruned a bush yesterday and last night my knee killed me. This is the season to transplant rhododendrums so 2 guys are coming this afternoon to move some to better places for me.

Your bean soup was delicious. Forgot to eat prunes last night until about 2:00 am. So I ate a few then with milk and a piece of toast to try to help me sleep.

The less you eat, your body thinks it needs to go into survival mode and will shut down your metabolism so your body will store up fat...for the lean days it thinks is comming. It dates back to cave man, and they've proven it.

For this week my mind has been on either mama, getting my operation scheduled, will I go to SF for C's op, getting people to help me move plants, prettying up the yard, etc, etc. I haven't been eating regularly, taking my acia berry, drinking enough water.

I've got to concentrate on me, me, me. And get off this plateau I'm on. I've read in books that the mini meals every 3 hrs should include protein and good carbs. It would be easier if I cold just at an apple or carrots or such rather than worry about getting the protein in. What do you think?

I've made my chart and I'm going to concentrate on me and this eating regularly and healthily again.

OK, I may have to get a watch with an alarm on it.
The cane is a good idea. I have one from a friend. I use it when I have to walk a longer ways. I worked out in the yard today - for the last time - and did too much again. I'm transplanting plants that need to be done now. The rest can wait.

I have a problem remembering to eat when I'm very busy. I was busy all day til 3:00. Grabbed a handful of almonds and when to get my oil changed and door handle fixed. I was starving and specifically for a big CHUNK of meat so I got some broasted chicken and ate a whole breast (skin off of course). That was about 4:00.

I'll have some of your bean soup at about 7:00. That will be dinner.

I'm starving for some of that wonderful potato salad that my neighbor fixed for us and Mom had only about 3 spoons full of and I threw out the rest after I had 2 wee tastes. I'm starving for a pizza, a huge bowl of ice cream.

I know how you feel, I forget to eat too when I'm busy, but THAT IS THE WORST THING WE CAN DO FOR OUR METABOLISIM!!!!!!!!
Getting you on a steady schedule is one of the most important parts of this diet...why do you think I keep on about you eating 1/2 cup of something healthy every 3 hours...even though you never say you will. After excercise, getting your metabolisim up and working faster is almost as important as what you eat.
So until you get your knee fixed and are up and around again, diet & metab are the only things you have going for you...and nightly prunes that is :~}

I took the acia berry, ate throughout the day, drank lots of water, had 1339 calories and 34.5 grams of fat. 27 grams of fat were in the walnuts with my oatmeal and in the 1/2 pbj sandwich. So that was good fat.

We need to get your body on a specific schedule. Here's a suggestion or sample...make it like you want, but save it in your email draftsection so you can copy & paste the blank one each day and fill it out and email it to me and yourself so you'll have a record.
I don't know what mom's schedule is so I couldn't work around it like I'm sure you have to do.
9:15 weigh in, make hot green tea, acia & vitamins write it down
9:30 chat with sam drinking hot green tea
9:45 eat a healthy breakfast with fruit instead of walnuts write it down
11:45 sit in a straight chair, exercise for 15 min write it down
bm? write it down
12:45 eat a healthy lunch write it down
3:45 eat 1/2 c of something healthy write it down
4:00 sit in a straight chair, exercise for 15 min write it down
6:45 eat a healthy dinner write it down
9:45 eat prunesAs you can see, it would work better if you got up at 8 a.m.
Every minute you are awake and up and about, your body burns calories & fat.

I know it's better if I'm on a strict schedule but that's harder than giving up sweets.
My current schedule is about what you've listed here.
And I've been writing things down for the past 3 days.
Yesterday I had this:
10:00 oatmeal w/walnuts & strawberries
12:30 grapes
3:00 1/2 pbj & orange
6:00 your stuffed cabbage dinner
9:30 bagel & milk
11:00 prunes & to bed.

I pretty much eat the same things for breakfast and lunch.
My snacks are always going to be fruit or carrots or celery. Something I can just pick up and eat.

I always have your hot green tea (I've changed to am) and have put my acia berry with my vitamins so I take it in AM and it's also on bathroom counter so I take it at night. I've moved to raw prunes to the bathroom so I remember to take them also. I keep a bottle of water with me always and refill throughout the day so I always have 6-8 glasses a day of liquid.

However, I didn't do all this strictly during the bad weeks. I can see that it makes a huge difference and I've been doing all this since Saturday.

The 4 bite rule

Have you ever heard of the "4 bite rule"? The first 4 bites of anything, even steak or shrimp, always taste the best...from then on, it's nothing special...just finishing up, but your t buds have gotten used to the treat. So when you do go off the wagon, thry to eat only 4 bites and throw the rest away...you've already gotten the best "mouth feel and taste" that you were craving

Also, before you give in to a weakness, drink water. Are you still drinking 8 glasses a day?

That might work with burger & fries. The next time I weaken I'll try it. I know it won't work with sweets. I can't stop eating them if I have just a few bites. That's why there's not a sweet thing in the house.

French Bread has very little fat. Slice 4 rounds, spread with my spaghetti sauce and a VERRY little bit of parmesan cheese. broil. This should get you past the worst cravings.

Metabolisim is the reason I keep telling you to eat at least 1/2 cup of something healthy every 3 hr. It keeps your M working at all times and when you are feeling FORCED to eat something every 3 hours, you won't have so many cravings.

I HATE schedules, but I see what you mean. I'll start drinking the 8 glasses of water, but I can't really start exercises until my knee surgery.

Well, either my expensive scales have gone up or something strange is happening with my body.

body fat down 4% from when I last took it on Feb 25
visceral fat down 1 point
body water up 1%

Yesterday I had 1 egg and dry toast for bkfst, 1/2 pbj sandwich w/grapes for lunch, your soup(which is delicious) for dinner and snacks of carrots, banana, 2 pieces of whole wheat toast.

I guess I'll have to make a new form and keep track of all the stuff my scales tells me but I don't think I should be gaining with what I'm eating. The scales says I should have 3446 calories a day to maintain my current weight. I know I'm having max of 1500-1800 cal.

I'll give it a few more days then I'm going to call the company.

I have not had a bm in 2 days in spite of eating prunes. Today should be the day for a good one.

I don't understand either. Did you get weighed at your doctor's the other day? If you were doing exercise, I'd say it was because muscle weighs more than fat.
3,440 calories is rediculously high for losing weight...maintaining is more like it. For losing, it should be 1200 to 1600 max.

The egg is 6 grams fat, the pb depends on how much, but at least it is good fat. Maybe you should set up a chart of grams and calories intake too. Do you have a good book? I know a place on line that has charts for both...I'll look it up and send it to you...just mark them "favorites" and you'll be able to click on them in a flash.

EAT ASPARAGUS and other diuretics.

The most important things in losing weight are: attidude(don't let mom get to you), metabolism (eat little healthy meals every 3 hr), exercise (whenever you can with your bad knee...thought of any chair exercises? Even starting at 15 min a day would help), Fat/calorie intake (eggs are bad for your heart as well as your waistline), start a chart of EVERYTHING including attitude for morning, noon and night, AND a daily BM...the longer food stays in your intestines, the longer your body has to draw out and store the fat and if your metab is low, your body will grab everything you eat including carbs, sugar etc. and turn it into fat in order to be able to store it.

I've found that if I eat 2 prunes every night before bed, they have time to work their way through all the stuff in my system and don't cause the problems you mentioned.
If I eat them in the morning, my normal activity works them through too quickly thru the center of the intestines causing gas and runs when I go. Because they go thru so quickly, they don't work on the sludge on the walls of the intestines.
We have GOT to figure out a way to keep you on track.

I have deleted here actually weight reports and only including amount lost to keep her actual weight a secret. I wouldn't want my weight broadcast over the internet.
You'll notice from the first emails, she didn't really know how to eat to lose weight.

Here is my first day's report. Send me a list of foods I'll need to get and I'll find them in PA.
Day 1. Breakfast: Small ham & cheese omelet, dry wheat toast. 1:30 raw carrots & 1 low fat string cheese. I’ll have apple/orange for another snack. Homemade vegie soup tonight for supper w/maybe a grilled cheese sandwich. Not completely no fat but close. Will go grocery shopping tonight or tomorrow (it's an hour away) and be better prepared. Got the new scales; very techie; will weigh tomorrow after figuring out how they work.

I just got home yesterday. Will be shipping the first box UPS tomorrow ground with lots of dry ice and a list of all meals sent. Whatever doesn't fit in your freezer can thaw in your fridge.

I would rather you use an extra dinner for lunch, than cook something for yourself that you think is 'close' to low fat but is high in fat...eggs, ham & cheese are all high fat. Please ask the restaurant how they fix the oatmeal and do they put butter in it?????

Let me know if you have any reguests or if I send something you don't want to receive any more of ( & no you will not hurt my feelings). Always thaw in big bowls. Sometimes the corners get chipped up once they are frozen, from kicking around in my freezer. Do not nuke the glad containers.
I need to know what FF items you can buy from the 2 big stores that are 1 hour away so I won't take up space in the cooler with those...i.e...low fat, whole wheat pastas, no yolks pasta noodles, fat free whole wheat pitas, low fat whole wheat grain bread, low fat whole wheat burger buns, ff saltine crackers. I know you can get good FF dressing.
White breads, white rice and sugar are NOT on this diet. I now use Splenda in my green tea, hot or cold
I don't know how much to partially cook the meals in order for you to be able to put the dinners in the microwave frozen. So you must take them out each morning, so they will only need minimum nuking to heat thru...nuking enough to thaw would make them waaaaaay over cooked and dry and tasteless.
I tried different ways to separate the sauce/gravy/broth from the rice/pot/pasta so the starch wouldn't be mushy or the meal like soup by the time it is cooked. I'll need your feedback to know what works best for future preparation.
I am sending several dinners of the ones I think you'll like most. Each package serves 2. Here is a list of dinners in this first cooler:
Morrocan Veggies & Brown Rice

Fiet mignon, mashed potatoes & gravy, with peas

Thanksgiving dinners with various sides

Prime Rib, m potatoes, gravy & veggies

Teriyaki Chicken, brown rice and snow peas

Various chicken 'birds'. rolled up with veggies inside, broth
(you can add about 1 T cornstarch to broth & heat up and pour over 'birds')

Steak Burgers (steak totally defatted &ground up by me!! You fry.
...............lettuce, tom, onions, NO cheese .... Make a salad

Steak Pinwheels: UNCOOKED Thaw the night before. The next a.m. place in slow cooker beside 2 potatoes, 4 carrots, 1 onion all chopped, pour 2 cans of stewed tomatoes, s & p, cook low 8 hr. slice into pinwheels

Stuffed Bell Peppers, UNCOOKED cook the same as Steak Pinwheels, leaving out the potato, carrots Serve on Spaghetti Squash I provide

Stuffed Cabbage, UNCOOKED, Same stuff bell peppers Serve w Green Beans I provide

Hummus Dips: just thaw, no cooking. I'm sending FF wh wheat pitas the first time, Let me know if your big store has them. Make a salad.

Chicken, m pot, gravy, peas

Meatloaf, M Potatoes, Gravy, green beans

Curry Sauce w Brown Rice make a salad

Chicken Florentine, rice, corn broth ... thicken broth w cornstarch slurry, pour over

Chicken Gumbo: pile a mound of hot brown rice in center of bowl, pour gumbo over

Lazagna: wraped individually in plastic, then wrapped 2 together in plastic make a BIG salad

The bag of Spaghetti Sauce is enough for 4.

The restruant doesn't put butter in the oatmeal, I asked. Sometimes I eat at home before we go, sometimes there.

Can't figure out these scales yet.
For some reason I was starving all day yesterday. Real hunger - - not the stomach upset I had from too much Ibuprofin for my knee. I managed not to eat too much but I did have 2 whole wheat bagels at 2 different times. The scales in town say I've lost 4 lbs this first week, but I bet most of that is water weight.

It is not good to starve yourself. It's best to eat 5 or 6 small healthy meals spaced 2.5 to 3 hr apart. That will keep your metabolism up and running which is key for losing weight. What exercises are you doing?

1/2 c FF peach yogurt.....toss all together

Remember to save some of the Spag Sauce for the Stuffed bell peppers. You just place them in a 8x8 dish, spoon sauce over and bake. There are 2 steak burgers just thrown in

Ok, but please use this recipe for Guilt Free Gourmet Mashed Potatoes
Boil peeled potatoes, in chunks, drain
Mash with salt & pepper and a little skim milk.

Here's how to make almost FF gravy:
1 c boiling water
add 1 large Knoor Chicken or Beef cube and 1 large Knoor Veggie Bouillon cube to dissolve
Mix 1 T cornstarch w 3 T cold water well, add to hot broth, boil 'till thickened.

Gained back 1/2 lb. I have to admit that Mom wanted to go out to eat last night and we did. I had liver, rice (no gravy) salad bar (no dressings) and coffee. The liver had onions and bacon. I didn't eat the bacon but the liver was fried. I only ate half and brought the other half home fo mom to eat tonight. It was delicious but not enough to gain back 1/2 lb.

I find myself craving fat - fried foods, cheeses, etc. Not craving sweets at all which is wonderful! ! ! My next "splurge" will be to go to PA and have a pizza. I'm dying for one. There is one place in town that has pizza but they are not good.

Had a wonderful storm early this am. No thunder/lightening but hard rain and wind.

I'll have a good day today, I can feel it. Don't know what I'll have for dinner. I'll look in the freezer and pick something. How nice. Thank you sooooo much for doing this for me. I couldn't do it without you.

Did you get the box of whole wheat pastas and individually wrapped prunes I sent? I love prunes and you really need to get a move on daily. :~) Every 3 days is NOT GOOD !!!

I can make them extremely low fat. Here's a recipe for low fat cole slaw
(have you found the jar of roasted red bell peppers in the store yet? Remember you have to add some of that juice to the FF mayo to make the FF mayo taste good)
1/4 head cabbage, shredded
1/2 carrot, shredded
1 or 2 strips of roasted red bell pepper, chopped
2 or 3 T FF mayo
1 or 2 t juice from the peppers....................toss all
s & p
please be sure to eat the bbq I send on a whole grain bun.

Is it possible to gain 3 lbs in 2 days? I broke down and had a burger & fries. How disappointing. I know some of it is water. My last BM was Saturday. I'm going to take a water pill and eat prunes.
